Lorraine is a specialist gastro dietitian with an interest management of Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). Her eclectic journey in the world of nutrition began over 10 years ago and she has honed her skills with hospital, private and research roles before specialising in digestive conditions.
She currently runs a Gut Health Clinic at the Blackrock Clinic, helping people understand the links between their diet and lifestyle and their condition, agreeing personalised interventions to help reduce gut symptoms, as well as helping pinpoint exact food triggers.
Lorraine’s mission is to be a trustworthy source of information. She acknowledges that it can be hard to get your head around the ginormous supply of available nutrition information, not least in the gut health space.
One minute its fibre is helpful, the next fibre is to be avoided. Sometimes it’s take probiotics, other times it’s don’t. And when it comes to trying out restrictive diets to manage gut symptoms –you may feel like you’re slipping down a dietary rabbit hole! Frankly every day we’re told something a bit different but Lorraine’s approach will ensure that evidence triumph’s over opinion.
Lorraine holds a BSc (Hons) Human Nutrition and MSc in Dietetics. She is Low FODMAP diet accredited and is co-author of Gut Feeling, a Low FODMAP reference guide and recipe book.
