To celebrate International Women’s Day we asked some of the inspiring ladies who will be with us at Thrive to tell us what makes them THRIVE as women in 2019:
Making sure I check in with myself on a regular basis is one of the most helpful things for making me feel like I’m thriving. Just taking some time to see what I need, physically, mentally and emotionally and then giving that to myself (self care!) has made such a difference in my life.
My focus for 2019 is thriving on freshness! Reflecting on my success to date, striving for the future, enjoying every moment and focusing on staying fresh. I’m staying fresh by saying no to things that don’t excite me, putting myself first and acknowledging that rest and time away from the hospital, GAA field and kitchen is vital for my future!
2018 brought cultural change to Ireland and showed us how strong the undercurrent of anger against female repression is. Nowin 2019 I feel I’ve found my voice, the ability so say no, and to follow my passions with confidence.
“Maybe it’s an odd one, but what I wish to thrive on in 2019 is rest. I started the year by taking some well over due breaks from work, but still found I would give myself a hard time for taking time out. For the rest of the year I’m determined to take my days off, switch off in the evenings and accept that not everything has to be done now or perfectly. I believe there can be a pressure on woman to “multitask effortlessly” and do everything perfectly. This year to truly thrive I’m going to give my mind and body the rest that’s truly needed to thrive.”
“We feel we can Thrive as women when we are surrounded by a supportive, uplifting team full of grafters and by friends who can soothe us through the bad times. Strength in numbers whilst empowering yourself”
As each year passes and I grow more into myself I understand that to Thrive is to know and understand myself, to Thrive in 2019 is to know that my life is an ongoing process and not a destination. Thriving for me is ongoing, it is learning to say ‘no’, learning to put myself first, learning that I can’t control everything and I’m not superwoman! Knowing all of this is what makes me thrive each and every day and for that I am so grateful.
What makes me thrive as a woman? Doing what lights me up and helping to spark that fire in others.
My passion to keep doing what I love every day. Teaching yoga, wellness and mindfulness, getting people moving and breathing in a way that feels good for their bodies and helping people really tune in. In this crazy paced wold with constant distraction, I love helping people to invest time in themselves. I feel so incredibly lucky to be working in this industry which is constantly changing and developing and I get to meet the most wonderful people which feeds my passion and makes me thrive every day.
